Campus-wide admit rates are useful context, but they hide the truth:
majors vary dramatically.
Your list should reflect that reality.

Build a list that works (stretch / target / safety)
Use a simple rule:
- Stretch: major admit rate is low enough that you need everything to be strong
- Target: your GPA and plan fit the typical admit range, and the admit rate is realistic
- Safety: higher admit rate + fewer plan risks (prereqs, sequencing, unit load)
If you’re unsure, start with a barbell:
- 1 stretch
- 2 targets
- 1 safety
The missing step: “Can I actually qualify by the deadline?”
Even if a campus looks “more accessible,” you still need to complete:
- the right prerequisites
- the right sequences
- in the right academic year

Where do the numbers come from?
The UC explorer is served from UC’s published tables (2013–2023 where available), exposed via our static-data API and rendered in /uc-transfer-data.
